Junior Creative Writer

Squaremouth is looking for a motivated Junior Copywriter to join our growing Marketing team. This is an entry-level position, with the opportunity for fast advancement for driven individuals. We are seeking a strong writer with 1-3 years of experience in marketing or communications.

This role will support various marketing initiatives and assist in developing a range of content for both consumer and media audiences. They will also be responsible for supporting the Marketing team through a wide array of projects and goals. They must proactively learn our industry, customer base, and marketing strategies, in order to support various initiatives and campaigns.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated go-getter and highly attentive to details. They should have a creative and versatile writing style, with the ability to learn and understand Squaremouth’s unique voice.

They should keep a constant pulse on our industry, and have the ability to understand and translate technical information into clear, engaging copy. The right candidate will have an intrinsic desire for personal growth and professional success. They must be a team player who can work with a lively group of overachievers in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Research and conceptualize compelling ideas for content
  • Update, organize and maintain Squaremouth’s robust database of media and content partner contacts
  • Write engaging copy for both consumer and media audiences, including press releases, website copy, articles, blog posts and award applications
  • Translate technical travel insurance information into easy-to-understand content
  • Learn and communicate using Squaremouth’s unique voice
  • Keep a constant pulse on the industry
  • Meet tight deadlines
  • Multitask between projects
  • Support public relations and content marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop new online marketing initiatives and improve existing marketing efforts
  • Become well-versed in Squaremouth’s unique company culture and approach to customer service

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of work experience in Marketing, Copywriting, PR or Communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Able to handle constructive criticism and accept different points of view and feedback
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a strong sense of curiosity and desire to learn
  • Commitment to providing incredible customer service
  • BONUS: Familiarity with SEO best practices and writing for SEO
  • BONUS: Experience using Wordpress, Hootsuite, ExactTarget and Salesforce
  • BONUS: Experience writing for the travel industry
